Gustav Klimt: One Of The Most Famous Painters In The World
Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) is a famous painter in Austria.
Together with Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was another avant-garde at the turn of the century. His work is famous for his gorgeous gilded, Byzantine-style Art Nouveau female portraits.
Klimt’s artistic beginnings were initially immersed in the traditions of Gründerzeit and historicism, including the commission of realistic portrait paintings under the name of his “Künstlercompagnie” studio.
Klimt’s most famous paintings “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer” (1907) and “The Kiss” (1907-1906) are among the most well-known works of the early 20th century. His symbolist collages of pale nudes, allegorical gardens, and erotic themes interpret the intersection of fine and decorative arts and become a model of Viennese Secessionism.
Klimt’s works were criticized by the Austrian authorities for their explicit erotic descriptions, but they were sought after by the elite.
Now, any one of Klimt’s works can be sold for more than millions of dollars. Klimt’s unique control of art is also known as one of the trends that the European art souvenir market follows. Many design drawings imitate his style for creation.

Video – Gustav Klimt
Gustav Klimt is an Austrian artist whose pictorial paintings defined Vienna’s Art Nouveau movement.
He was born in Baumgarten, Austria on July 14, 1862, studied as an architectural painter at Staatliche Kunstgewerbescule, and soon opened his studio. As one of the founders of the Vienna Secession, Klimt’s artistic practice includes commissioned frescoes, interior decoration, and easel paintings. As a controversial painter, he created many erotic paintings in his later years-many which were not seen or exhibited until after his death. On February 6, 1918, Klimt died in Vienna, Austria, at the age of 56.
As a master of symbolism, Klimt often perceptually portrays the female body in his jewelry-toned paintings, prints, and drawings, as shown by Dana (1907). The artist also painted gorgeous square landscapes such as Bauerngarten (1907), and the mythical depiction of nature in the “Tree of Life” (1905) using gold leaf and alternating color blocks.
In 2003, Klimt’s “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I” (1907) was auctioned for $135 million, breaking the previous auction record. Today, his paintings are collected by the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere in Vienna, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Orsay Museum, the Tate Gallery in London, and the New Art Gallery in Munich.

Gustav Klimt
Gustav Klimt is an Austrian symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement.
He was born on July 14, 1862, in Baumgarten, near Vienna. His father worked as a gold engraver and his mother came from a family that ran an inn. At age 16 he began studying at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts with several other artists including Carl Wurzinger (1837-1923) who taught him to paint watercolors.
In 1879 he met Emil Jakob Schindler (1842-1930), whose portrait he would later paint in 1903 after Schindler had married Alma Mahler, widow of Gustav Mahler.
Klimt’s early works were not very successful; critics found them too radical for their tastes but they did find favor among some patrons who bought them for large sums which allowed him to continue painting more experimental pieces such as Death And Life (1900).
In 1897 Klimt became associated with the Viennese art group known as “The Company” or “The Society for Private Painting”. This association lasted until 1908 when it broke up due to personal conflicts between its members over issues like art direction and financial problems.
Some of Gustav Klimt’s famous paintings are The Kiss (1907–08), Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I (1907), Death and Life (1899), The Tree of Life (1904–11), and Judith II (1909–10).
